Follow this steps before buying a new processor:
Step 1: Find your motherboard socket model number.
To find your motherboard socket model number first you need to install CPU-z application. It will show you your laptop/desktop motherboard socket model number.

Step 2: Find what are all processor that will support in your motherboard socket model.
To find what are all processor that will support in your motherboard socket model use this link: http://www.cpu-world.com/index.html

In this site you can find what are all the processor that'll fit in your motherboard socket model. Please note that it won't show for all socket model's. In that case you need to enter your socket model in Google and check what are all processor will support in your motherboard socket.
